Dc Wave Lace and Suggested Projects
For those of you who like to make mile-a-minute afghans, this pattern is absolutely great, it works up pretty fast. And it is easy to remember after you have made several rows.
It is my own adaptation of a lace I have. You can make the panels individually and then join them with a nice contrasting edge, a little baby afghan would look darling in panels of the same color or let’s say two pink, two yellow and two green. If you add some tiny ribbon roses sewn all over the dc rows, you would have something worthy of the most elegant of baby showers!
With Worsted weight yarn or baby yarn in Baby Pink
and size F hook, ch 25.
Row 1- Skip 3 ch (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in 4th ch from hk an d in every ch to end (23 sts).
Row 2- Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in next dc, *1 dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 3, rep from * across. End row by making 1 dc in each of last 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3- Dc in 1st 2 dc, ch 3, 1 sc in top of sc of prev row, ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 dc, ch 3, 1 sc in top of sc of prev row, ch 3, 1 dc in each of last 5 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Continue repeating rows 2 and 3 alternately for pattern.
Another thing you could do is to make series of little satin ribbon bows in the colors you use for the little afghan and sew them in the dc rows either in the same color row or in contrasting rows. You would have a really precious baby blanket!

Craftybegonia's Shell Rick Rack
If there is anything that lends itself for creativity is children's clothing. My mom has been making little girls' dresses for charity and I promised to lend a hand when it came to "decorating" them. So I have. This is one of our creations. I added the edging and chose the teddy bear buttons from my stash and sew them on. I think the dress is darling and it will make very happy an otherwise sad little girl. That in itself is a source of joy to us.
I'm sharing the pattern of this rick rack with you. You might find it useful for a myriad little things: pillowcases, hand towells, hankies, curtains, but especially, little girls' tops, skirts and dresses. It is very easy and it works up really fast. Here it is:
Materials:
Crochet #10 cotton in color of your choice, I used Victory Red
#1 silver hook
Note: This rick rack works upwards not lengthwise. I find that more practical when you have to make a length of trim, if you have to go further, you don't have to undo your work, it you made to much you can always adjust.
Ch 5, on 5th ch from hk, make 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, turn. Wind thread around hook, insert hook in the middle of the shell already made (2 dc on either side), make 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1. Repeat for as long as you need to for the edging's length.
Blossom approves!

Cotton Candy Dishcloth
This is a fun dishcloth. It is in the shape of a heptagon or 7-sided polygon (a clever crocheter can even used it as a giant granny for a quicker-than-usual afghan). The fun shape and the happy color can liven up an otherwise boring chore.

Pink worsted weight yarn
Size "G" crochet hook
