Alyssa


Alyssa is a relatively easy cowl made with a pretty stitch combination of popcorns and shells. It looks chunky and it is warm, but it still has some lace "holes" to it that makes it quite charming and the rich color is quite striking!


Materials-
Red Heart Classic Parakeet (1 skein)
Crochet hook size H
Scissors
Blunt needle
Marker

Skill- Moderately easy (not for a beginner, though)
Size- 31" L x 6 1/2" W



With Parakeet and H hook, ch 26.

Row 1- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (25 sts) Ch 3, turn (counts as first dc of next row throughout).
Row 2- (Mark as Right Side) 1 dc in next st, work Popcorn in next st as follows: make 5 dc in st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in front of the 5-dc group of stitches, hook dropped loop and draw yarn through, ch 1 to close (Popcorn made), *skip 4 sts, make 9 tr in next st, skip 4 sts, work Popcorn in next st, skip 4 sts, work 9 tr in next st, rep from * across till you reach the last 2 sts, 1 dc in each of 2 last sts. Ch 1, turn (does not count as a stitch throughout).
Row 3- 1 sc in each stitch across. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4- 1 dc in next st, 1 popcorn in next Popcorn, skip 4 sts, 9 tr in next st, *Popcorn in next Popcorn, skip 4 sts, 9 tr in next st, rep from * across till last 2 sts, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5 to 52- Rep rows 3 and 4, ending with row 3. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Thread blunt needle with yarn and sew the Cowl closed. Fasten off, weave in tail.
