Hi Margaret! It is very easy. Once you've made your first one, you can make them all the time almost with your eyes closed. First you close it as a tube (after you have finished with the black part.) Now, you join the Burgundy yarn to the upper part of the tube and crochet around until you have completed the size of the hat for an adult's head. Then you fasten off, leaving a long tail and sew all around, gathering as you go to close the top. And then sew the button in the middle. That's all there is to it!

Hi peiwun, you're welcome! I get 8. But do not fear, adding 2 dc is rather easy. Do 2 dc in 2nd ch and 2 dc in 4th ch and you will have the 8.
I did it with a Super Saver and I only used 1 skein. Hope this resolves the problem!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern! I'm making this now and would like to ask if I misinterpreted the pattern. For the very first row, I only got 6 v stitches according to the pattern, instead of 8. Should I do the second dc in the same ch or in the next ch?

Hi CaraLouise, Moni's edging works upward, in other words, you make the length you need and you stop when you reach it, you will not have to make a wide length of it as with other patterns, only to find out later that you are either too short or have too much of it! The whole thing works up at the same time, vertically, and you just apply the length you need. If you don't like this edging, why don't you take a look at Crochet Pattern Central? Or perhaps you can ask at Crochetville or Ravelry if anyone can point you to a site with another edging. The reason I made this edging is because I like things that are exact, I don't like to have to unravel and repeat my work because of being too short or having too much. With this edging you're always right on the dot.
