I love cowls! They are easy and fast to make, wear comfortably and look great. Elaina fits the bill in all those areas! It would also make a quick and pretty gift for anyone.
Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Real Teal (1 skein)
Crochet hook size H
Blunt needle
Scissors
Skill- Relatively Easy
Size- 9 1/2" T x 13" W; 26" (Circumference)
With Real Teal and H hook, ch 35.
Row 1- 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. (32 sts) Ch 4, turn.
Row 2- 1 tr in each st across. (32 sts) Ch 3, turn.
Row 3- 1 dc in each st ac ross. (32 sts) Ch 4, turn.
Rows 4 to 27- Alternate rows 2 and 3. (32 sts) DO NOT FASTEN OFF!
Lace-
Row 1- Ch 3 (counts as first st of row), 1 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 4 dc in next st, ch 2, skip 4 sts, 1 dc in each of last 2 sts. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2- Work 32 hdc across row. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3- Rep row 1. Ch 2, turn.
Row 4- Rep row 2. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 5 to 17- Alternate rows 1 and 2. Ch 3, turn.
Row 19- work 32 dc across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew the cowl into a tube.
Thread a blunt needle with the yarn tail and sew both ends together into a tube, weave in the rest of the tail.
