Beginners sometimes feel left out when they don't find patterns sufficiently easy for them to make.This is another pattern that is pretty easy for the adventurous beginner and a real piece of cake for the advanced crocheter. Ideal for charity projects, gift-giving and just for a quick use of that green yarn you have in your stash that is screaming for spring!


Size- 34" long by approx. 7" wide around neck.



Note-
The portion of scarflet that goes around neck and ruffled ends are wider than lacy portion of scarflet. When worn, it looks nice.

Materials-

Red Heart worsted weight yarn Hunter Green (1 skein)

Crochet hook size H

Scissors

Blunt needle to weave in tail

ScarfletSide #1-

With Hunter, ch 25.

Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. (24 sc) Ch 3, turn.

Row 2- (Working only in back loops) 1 dc in each sc across. (24 dc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 3- (Working only in back loops) 1 sc in each dc across. (24 sc) Ch 3, turn.

Row 4- (Working only in back loops) 1 dc in each sc across. (24 dc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 5- (Working only in back loops) 1 sc in each dc across. (24 sc) Ch 3, turn.

Row 6- Skip next dc, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc] rep 6 more times,skip next 2 dc, 1 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn. (7 clusters plus 2 dc)

Row 7- 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch-1 sp, rep across, 1 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. (7 clusters plus 2 dc)

Rows 8 to 20- Rep row 7. Ch 4, turn. (7 clusters, plus 2 dc)

Row 21- 1 tr in next dc, [1 tr in ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc,] rep 3 times, 1 tr in next dc, 2 tr in next ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc, [1 tr in ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc,]rep 3 times, 1 tr in top of turning ch. (24 tr) Ch 3, turn.

Row 22- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.

Row 23- 1 tr in each of next 4 dc, ch 14, skip 14 dc, 1 tr in each of last 5 dc. (keyhole started) Ch 3, turn. (10 tr, 14 ch)


Row 24- 1 dc in each tr and in each ch across. (24 dc) (Keyhole completed) Ch 4, turn.

Row 25- 1 tr in each dc across. (24 dc) Ch 3, turn.

Row 26- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.

Rows 27 to 33- Alternate 1 dc row and 1 tr row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 34- 1 dc in each tr across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Decorative Shells on edges-
Row 1-Join Hunter to front loop of first row of dce made at the beginning of the scarflet (row 2) and work 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in that loop,skip 3 loops, work 1 sc in next loop, *skip 3 loops, make 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next loop, skip 3 loops, make 1 sc in next loop, rep from * across row. Fasten off, weave in tails.
Row 2- Rep shells row across front loops of next dc row (row 4). Fasten off, weave in tails.
Side #2-

With Hunter, ch 25.

Row 7- 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch-1 sp, rep across, 1 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. (7 clusters plus 2 dc)

Rows 8 to 20- Rep row 7. Ch 4, turn. (7 clusters, plus 2 dc)

Row 21- 1 tr in next dc, [1 tr in ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc,] rep 3 times, 1 tr in next dc, 2 tr in next ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc, [1 tr in ch-1 sp, 1 tr in next dc,]rep 3 times, 1 tr in top of turning ch. (24 tr) Ch 3, turn.

Row 22- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.

Row 23- 1 tr in each dc across. (24 tr) Ch 3, turn.

Row 24- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.

Row 25- 1 tr in each dc across. (24 dc) Ch 3, turn.

Row 26- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.

Rows 27 to 33- Alternate 1 dc row and 1 tr row. Ch 3, turn.Row 34- 1 dc in each tr across. Fasten off, weave in tail.
