Striking Warming Collar

This warming collar might look a little intricate but it's VERY easy to make and it looks gorgeous!

Materials:

Red Heart worsted weight yarn Soft Navy

Red Heart worsted weight yarn Burgundy

Crochet hook size H

Lace side: With Soft Navy and H hook, ch 24.

Row 1- 1 dc in 9th chain from hook and in each of next 2 chains, chain 2, skip 2 ch, 1 sc in next ch, ch 5, skip 3 chains, 1 sc in next chain, ch 2, skip 2 chains, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in last chain. Ch 5, turn. Row 2- Skip 1st dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, chain 5, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-5, chain 5, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, skip 2 chains, 1 dc in next chain of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. Row 3- Skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-5, 3 dc in next sc, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-5, ch 2, 1 dc in eachof next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. Row 4- Skip 1st dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, chain 5, make 1 sc in the center of 3-dc shell, chain 5, skip last dc of shell, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 5, 1 sc in center dc of 3-dc shell, chain 5, skip last dc of shell, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. Row 5- Skip 1st dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-5, chain 4, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-5, ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. Row 6- Skip 1st dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 9, skip all middle stitches until you reach the next 2 dc, make 1 dc in each of those 2 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. Row 7- Skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 sc in 3rd ch of ch-9, ch 5, 1 sc in 3rd from last ch of ch-9, ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Repeat rows 2 to 7 for pattern until you have a strip that measures 18-1/2 inches, ending with Row 3.
Edge- Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 1 dc in each stitch (including chains) across (20 dc). Ch 3, turn the warming collar and begin to make dc across the edge widthwise (78 dc). Note: Every now and then, skip a chain so that your edge will not be wavy. Ch 3, turn the corner and dc all across the other side of the collar (20 dc). Ch 1, turn the corner, now you are at the top of the collar, sc across (81 sc). Ch 1, turn. Next row: 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, sc2tog in next sc, *1 sc in each of next 10 sc, sc 2tog in next sc, rep across, end row with 1 sc in each of last 8 sc (73 sc). Fasten off, weave in tail.
Solid Back Side- Join Burgundy. 1 sc in each of 1st 10 sc, sc 2tog in next sc, *1 sc in each of next 10 sc, sc2tog, in next sc, rep from * across. End row with 1 sc in each of last 2 sc (68 sc). Ch 3, turn (counts as 1st dc in each row.) Row 2- 1 dc in each of next 10 sc, 2 dc in next sc, rep 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 5 sc, 2 dc in next sc, twice, 1 dc in each sc to end of row (73 dc). Row 3- 1 dc in each of first 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc ineach dc to end (81dc). Ch 3, turn. Row 4- 1 dc in each dc across. Rows 5 to 8- 1 dc in each dc across (keep your tension. Do NOT crochet loosely!) Rows 9 to 12- 1 dc in each dc across. Ch 4, turn.
Edging- Sl st in same spot as ch 4, 1 sc in each of next 2 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 4, sl st in same sc, *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 4, sl st in same sc, rep across from *. Fasten off, weave in tail.
Ties-Fold the collar over itself and, just at the point in which the solid dc sts end and the lace sts start, using Soft Navy and H hook, "tack" both sides together by inserting the hook through both sets of loops even as you join the yarn the make the first tie, secure the "tack" with a slip st. Ch 38. Butterfly Pulls- With Burgundy and H hook, ch 3, sl st to form ring. Ch 3, make 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, ch 3, sl st in ring. Ch 3, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, ch 3, sl st in ring. Fasten off. Attach "Butterflies" to ties as follows: Insert the end of 1 of the ties through the middle hole of the butterly (the ch-3 with which you began, pull a bit of the Soft Navy chain towards the back, folding the chain a bit over itself, then make a knot and segure well, leaving the "butterfly" hanging at the end of it.)

Clean up all your loose threads and you're done!

Easy Lace Dishcloth

This was the result of my playing with my hook for a bit. You can take this lace and turn it into anything you like, a shawl, a shrug, a scarf, it is pretty and easy to make! It would also be a very handsome addition to a block afghan.

Note: If you would like to use it for a facecloth, use a cotton yarn instead, it is easier on the skin.

Materials:

Red Heart Orchid (worsted weight acrylic yarn)

Crochet hook size G

Pattern:
Ch 36.
Row 1- 1 dc in 4th ch from hk and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn (counts as 1st dc throughout.)
Row 2- 1 dc in each of next 6 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, *1 dc in each of next 7 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, rep from * across. Ch 3, turn. Row 3- 1 dc in each of next 6 dc,ch 2, 1 sc in the middle of ch-2 space, *1 dc in each of next 7 dc, ch 2, 1 sc in middle of ch-2 space, rep across. Ch 3, turn. Rep rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
Last row: Ch 3, turn. 1 dc in each st across. Fasten off.

Blue and Blue Warming Collar

This is a beautiful collar made in two Contrasting shades of blue, so that it would "match" with some denim garments. Now, you can make it in any color you like, but find a lighter and a darker shade of the same color or you will lose the pretty peak-through effect of the lighter lace over the draker background.
Materials:
Worsted weight Red Heart Delft Blue
Worsted weight Red Heart Blue
Size H crochet hook and size G crochet hooks
Scissors

Lace:
With Delft Blue and H hook, ch 18.
Row 1- 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 3 ch, ch 4, skip 2 ch, 1 tr in each of next 4 ch, ch 4, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in each ch to end of row. Ch 3, turn. Row 2- Skip 1st dc, 1 dc in eahc of next 3 dc, ch 4, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in top of each tr, ch 4, 1 dc in each of last 4 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3- Rep row 1. Row 4- Rep row 3. Continue repeating these two rows until you have completed 35 rows. Fasten off Delft Blue.
Solid side-Join Blue to edge of lace strip horizontally across the dc rows. Row 36- Sc across that edge. Ch 3, turn. Row 37- 1 dc in each sc across. Ch 3, turn. Repeat these two rows until you have reached row 48, ending with an sc row.
Ties- Fold the collar over itself and, just at the point in which the solid dc sts end and the lace sts start, "tack" both sides together by inserting the hook through both sets of loops even as you join the yarn the make the first tie, secure the "tack" with a slip st. Ch 36. Make 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, make 4 dc in next ch and in each of next 6 ch (the chain will begin to curl and it is supposed to), slip st in next chain and begin to make a chain upwards back to the edg of the collar as follows: Ch 6 chains, twist thee chain around the old chain, cossing it over, slip st to secure the twist, make 6 more sts and repeat the twist and the slip st. twice more, when you reach the edge of the collar, slip st and fasten off. Repeat on the other side.
Edging- Ch 4, 1 dc ch, 1 dc in same spot, skip 2 sc, ch 2, 1 sc in next sc, *ch 2, skip 2 sc, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 2, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * across, until you reast end of row, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 4, and slip st in last sc to end row. Fasten off. Clean up all remaining tails and you're done!

Elegant Warming Collar

This beautiful lacy warming collar, crafted with a neutral colored yarn will go well with anything you can put on!

Materials:
Red Heart Soft Brown
Crochet hook size G

Ch 40.
Row 1- 1 dc in 6th ch from hk (ch 1, skip next ch, 1 dc in next ch) rep 7 times, ch 1, skip next ch, 1 dc in each of next 19 ch, ch 7, turn. Row 2- 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of next 18 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 7, skip next 3 dc, 1 dc in next dc (across from the 3 dc you just skipped), ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in last dc, ch 4, turn. Row 3- 1 dc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in each of next 5 ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch1, 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Ch 7, turn.
Row 4-1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of next 18 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, *ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, rep from * up to end of row. Ch 4,turn.
Continue alternating rows 2, 3 and 4 for pattern until you have completed a total of 33 rows. Ending with a row 4.
Note, the collar is folded over itself, the lacy part folded over the solid stitches.
Edging: Join yarn to the edge of the solid dc side and ch 3, in same spot, make 3 dc, skip 1 st, make 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, skip 1 st, make 1 four dc shell in next st, *skip 1 st, make 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, skip 1 st, make 1 four dc shell in next st, skip 1 st, make 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * across. Fasten off, weave in tail.
In lace edge,where the long loops are, join yarn. Ch 3, make a 4-dc shell in first long loop, ch 3, make 1 sc in the horizontal-lying post of dc of prev row (the stitch that lies in between the loop you just worked and the next long loop), ch 3, make 4-dc shell in next long loop, ch 3, 1 dc in next st, *ch 3, 4-dc shell in next long loop, ch 3, 1 sc in next st, rep from * across. Faste off. Weave in tail.
Ties-Fold the collar over itself and, just at the point in which the solid dc sts end and the lace sts start, "tack" both sides together by inserting the hook through both sets of loops even as you join the yarn the make the first tie, secure the "tack" with a slip st. Ch 36. Fan-Place a marker on the last chain. Chain 3, make 4 dc in chain where marker is (5-dc shell made). At the end of the last dc of this shell, chain 11, turn. Row 2- Working on back loops only, make 1 dc in 4th ch from hk, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, 1 hdc in each of next 2 ch, 1 sc in next, sl st in rop od 2nd dc of shell base. Ch 1, turn. Row 3- Working in back loops only, 1 sc in 1st sc, 1 hdc in each hdc, 1 dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn. Row 4-Working in back loops only, make 1 dc in each dc, 1 hdc in each hdc, and 1 sc in top of sc of prev row, sl st in top of shell base. Ch 1, turn. Continue repeating these last 2 rows until you complete 8 rows for the fan. Fasten off. Weave in tail. Repeat the same procedure for the other side of the collar.

Crunchy Stitch Neck Cozy

I came up with this stitch while tinkering with my hook and starting to make this neck cozy. Since it has some texture to it, I named it Crunchy stitch. It is very easy to make.
Materials:

Red Heart Hunter green
G crochet hook
3 green buttons about the size of a dime
green sewing thread
sewing needle
measuring tape
scissors

with G Ch 16. Row 1- 1 sc in 2nd ch of hk and in every ch across. Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc throughout). Row 2- 1 dc in each sc across. Row 3- 1 sc and 1 dc in first dc, skip next dc, 1 sc and 1 dc in next dc, *skip next dc, 1 sc and 1 dc in next dc, rep from * across until you reach the last stitch. Work 1 dc and 1 sc (inverted) in that last stitch. Ch 1, turn. Row 4- 1 sc in each sc across. Continue alternating rows 2 to 4 for pattern. Continue in this manner until your neck cozy measures 23-1/2 inches long,(or 59 rows) ending with a dc row. When you reach the end of your last row, ch 1, and insert the hook in the same dc you just made. Row 60- Make 1 row of sc across the edg widthwise.
Edging: Row 61- Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, ch 3 skip 3 sc, *1 dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 3, skip 3 dc, rep from * across. Row 62- Ch 3, turn. Skip last 2 dc of prev row and make 4 dc in ch-3 space , * ch 3, skip next dc, make 1 sc in next dc, skip next dc, ch 3, make 4 dc in next ch-3 space, rpe from * across. Finish with 1 sc inthe middle of last 3-dc group from prev row. Fasten off. Hide tail. Place one end of the neck cozy over the other, crossing it and measure where you want your buttons to be placed. Sew the buttons on the side that would be underneath when you cross the cozy to close it up, place them so that the dc row that crosses over the buttons will serve as buttonholes.

Double Duty Cowlette

This is a nifty idea. A short cowl that can hug your neck and warm it, and which, by simply pulling at the cord and making a bow with it, can turn into a little hat!
Easy and fast to make with the nice texture of a pebbly Offset Cluster, you can make it in a single sitting if you are a fast crocheter!
Here's the pattern:

Materials:
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Cherry Red
Red Heart Soft Navy
Crochet hook size H
Scissors
A small piece of cardboard to make tassels (about 4 inches)

With Cherry Red and H hk, ch 17.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hk and in every ch across (15 dc). Row 2: q dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, 1 dc in next dc, then make an Offset Cluster in this last dc this way: Yarn over, insert hk around the post of the this last dc made as if to make a dc, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hk, hold the last loops onthe hook and repeat until you have 5 unfinished dc in the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop through all loops on hook and slip st to secure, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, work another Offset Cluster in this last dc made, ch 1, skip next dc, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. Ch 3, turn. Row 3- 1 dc in each dc and ch across, including in top of each Offset Cluster. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have completed 36 rows. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with. Row 37-With Soft Navy, sc across edge of the red fabric just finished. (71 sc made). Ch 1, turn. Row 38- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Row 39- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 2, turn. Row 40 (Eyelet row)- Skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat across. Ch 1, turn. Row 41-1 sc in each st across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Join Soft Navy to the other edge of the red side of the cowlette. Row 42-Sc in each st across (71 sc made). Row 43-Rep row 1. Ch 2, turn. Row 44- 1 hdc in each sc across. Ch 2, turn. Row 45-Rep row 44. Rows 46-47: Rep row 1. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Turn cowlette on wrong side and sew, using the tails you left as you worked.
Cord: Holding together a strand of Cherry Red and Of Soft Navy at the same time, and H hook, crochet a chain of 97 chains. Sl st in last loop, leave a medium-length tail on both ends. Make a knot on each end of the cord (do not tighten it). Straighten cowlette so that the back seam is int he middle of the back and threading a blent needle with one of the tails left on the cord, thread the cord in and out through the eyelet row, making sure both ends of the cord wind up in the center of the front of the cowlette.
Make two tassels (short like I made htem or long, if you like them that way), sew them to the ends of the cord. Fasten off.
You're done!

Ladder Shells Neck Warmer

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Blue)
G size crochet hook
Blunt needle

Ch 26.
Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th chain and in each of the next 2 chains, skip nest 2 chs and make 5 dc in next chain, chain 2, skip next 3 chains, amd make a dc in each of next 4 chains, repeat this twice. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2 (Wrong Side): 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, make 5 dc in next dc, skipping prev row ch 2 space, ch 2, skip next 4 dc,, make 5 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next 4 dc, dc in each dc to end of row and in top of beg ch 3.
Continue to repeat row 2 until neck warmer measures 12 inches (20 complete rows of lace pattern). Ch 2, turn.
Row 21: Make 1 hdc in each stitch (including ch 2 spcaes) across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 22: Make 2sc tog at beg of row, 1sc in each of next 4 sts, 2sc tog, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2sc tog, 1 sc in each of hte following sts until you reach the last sts of the row, end row with 2sc tog. Ch 1, turn.
Row 23: 2sctog at beg of row, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sctog, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2sctog, 1 sc in each sc till you reach last 2 sc or row, make a 2sctog to end row. Ch 1, turn.
Row 24: 2sctog to start row, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2sctog, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sctog to end row. Ch 1,turn.
Row 25: 2sctog to start row, 1 sc in each sc across till you reach the last 2 sc, 2sctog to end row. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 26-27: Rep row 25.Ch 1, turn.
Row 28: 1 sc in each sc across (no decreases). 8 sc made. At the end of the row (after you have made the last sc2tog), ch 31.
Row 29: 1 sc in 3rd ch from hk and in each ch across until you reach again, the sc already made on the neck warmer. (DO NOT TWIST THE CHAIN AS YOU WORK!) Make 1 sc in each of the 8 sc remainng on the neck warmer. Ch 1, turn.
Row 30: 1 sc in each sc across (including strip made on the side of neck warmer). Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew.
Row 31: Join yarn at short edge of neck warmer on the opposite side to the long strip you just made. Make 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc. (10 sc made). Ch 1, turn.
Row 32: Rep row 31. Row 33: 1 sc in each of first 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Row 34: 1 sc in each of first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Ch 1, turn.
Row 35: 2sc at beg of row, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next 2sc, 1 sc in each sc till you reach the last sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Join yarn to the other end of the neck warmer.
Row 39: Ch 2, 1 hdc in each st across, including chains. Ch 1, turn.
Row 40: Make 2sc tog at beg of row, 1sc in each of next 4 sts, 2sc tog, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2sc tog, 1 sc in each of hte following sts until you reach the last sts of the row, end row with 2sc tog. Ch 1, turn.
Row 41: 2sctog at beg of row, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sctog, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2sctog, 1 sc in each sc till you reach last 2 sc or row, make a 2sctog to end row. Ch 1, turn.
Row 42: 2sctog to start row, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2sctog, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sctog to end row. Ch 1, turn.
Row 43: 2sctog to start row, 1 sc in each sc across till you reach the last 2 sc, 2sctog to end row. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 44-45: Rep row 25.Ch 1, turn.
Row 46: 1 sc in each sc across (no decreases). 8 sc made. Row 47: Rep row 46. Row 48: Rep row 46.

Row 51: 2 sc at beg of row, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 52: 1 sc in each of first 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc. I sc in each sc to end of row. Ch 1, turn. Row 53: 2 sc in first sc of row, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in eac of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc to end row. Row 55: 1 dc in each of next 3 dc, make 5 dc in next dc, skipping prev row ch 2 space, ch 2, skip next 4 dc,, make 5 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next 4 dc, dc in each dc to end of row and in top of beg ch 3.
Rep row 55 until you have completed 6 rows of lace. Fasten off.
Weave in tails. Pick up blunt needle and with the long tail you left to sew the strip made on the opposite side of neck warmer. Place the crocheted strip across the portion of the shell end as shown in photo and sew the end at the back. Fasten off. Clean up all loose threads.
