The cold months of the year are sometimes a little gray and dreary and wearing something bright, something that is pretty and has some pep is always uplifting. If you know someone sho gets a little blue in the winter months or if you do some charity crocheting, this pattern is a good one to give away. Enjoy!

Size- 47" L x 6" W
Skill Level- Moderately easy.

Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Hot Red (1 skein)
Crochet hook size H
Yarn or blunt needle for weaving ends

Chain 26 loosely.
Row 1- Work 1 sc in second ch from hook, *chain 2, skip 2 chains, 1 sc in next ch; rep from * across. Ch 3 (counts as first dc of next row), turn. (8 ch-2 spaces)
Row 2- 1 dc in same stitch, 3 dc in next sc, [3 dc in next sc], rep in each sc to last sc, 2 dc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. (25 dc)
Row 3- 1 sc in first dc, *ch 2, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc; rep from *across. (8 ch-2 spaces)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for pattern until piece measures 22 3/4 inches long. Ch 1, turn.
Keyhole Side Edge-
Row 1- Work 1 sc in each st across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row).
Row 2- 1 tr in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (25 sts)
Row 3- Make 1 sc in each st across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row).
Row 4- 1 tr in each of next 4 sts, ch 15, skip 15 sts, 1 tr in each of last 5 sts. (25 sts) (Keyhole started) Ch 1, turn.
Row 5- 1 sc in each st and in each chain across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row).


Lace Edging-
Row 6- 1 tr in each st across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row) Ch 4, turn (works as first dc of next row plus chain 1).
Row 7-  Skip next st, 1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, [1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st],  3 more times, ch 1, skip next st, make 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 sts, [1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st], rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Row 8- 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep 3 more times, ch 1, skip next ch 1 sp and next dc, work 5-dc shell in next st, ch 3, skip next 3 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Row 9- 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep 3 more times, ch 1, work a 5-dc shell in second ch of next ch-3 sp, ch 3, skip first 4 dc of next 5-dc shell, make 1 sc in last dc of shell, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, [1 dc in next dc, ch 1], rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Rows 10 to 18- Rep rows 8 and 9 alternately. Ch 3, turn.


Shell Edging-
Row 1- Work 4 dc in first ch-1 space, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 4 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 4 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, 4 dc in middle chain of next ch 3- space, make a 4-dc shell in second dc of next shell, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 4 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 4 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 4-dc shell in top of turning chain. (7 shells plus 6 single crochet stitches.)
Right Side of Scarf-
Row 1- Work 1 sc in each st across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row).
Row 2- 1 tr in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row).
Row 3- 1 tr in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (25 sts)
Rows 4 to 7- Alternate rows 2 and 3, ending with row 3.


Lace Edging-
Row 8- 1 tr in each st across. (25 sts) Ch 4, turn (works as first tr of next row) Ch 4, turn (works as first dc of next row plus chain 1).
Row 9-  Skip next st, 1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, [1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st],  3 more times, ch 1, skip next st, make 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 sts, [1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st], rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Row 10- 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep 3 more times, ch 1, skip next ch 1 sp and next dc, work 5-dc shell in next st, ch 3, skip next 3 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Row 11- 1 dc in next dc, [ch 1, 1 dc in next dc,] rep 3 more times, ch 1, work a 5-dc shell in second ch of next ch-3 sp, ch 3, skip first 4 dc of next 5-dc shell, make 1 sc in last dc of shell, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, [1 dc in next dc, ch 1], rep to end of row. Ch 4, turn.
Rows 12 to 20- Rep rows 8 and 9 alternately. Ch 3, turn.
