Evergreen . . .

Best Blog Tips



This one is a non-nonsense bundle-up short scarflet, with cute little wheels as edgings. it works really fast, so it makes an ideal charity project. It is also quite easy for an advanced beginner and a snap for an experienced crocheter. Enjoy!

Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Tea Leaf (1 skein)
Crochet hook size H
Scissors
Blunt needle to weave in tails and to sew
1 button of your choice
Sewing needle
Sewing thread color to match or similar


















Section #1-
Wheel-
With Tea leaf, ch 5, sl st to join rnd.
Rnd 1- Ch 4 (stands for 1 dc plus ch 1), 1 dc in ring, ch 1, [1 dc, ch 1] rep 8 more times. (10 dc, 10 chs) Ch 3, turn.
Rnd 2- Sl st to first ch-1 sp, ch 4, 1 dc in that ch-sp, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch-s sp, [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch-s sp,] rep 8 more times. Ch 3, turn.
Rnd 3- 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, [1 dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st,] rep twice, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st, sl st to join rnd. (40 dc) Ch 4, turn.
Rnd 4- 1 dc in same spot as ch 4, skip 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc. (11 dc, 10 ch) Ch 3, turn.
Row 5- 1 dc in each of next 6 sts, 2 dc in next st, [1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st,] rep twice, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts. (24 sts) Ch 4, turn.

Body of Scarflet-
Row 6- 1 tr in each of next 23 dc. (24 tr) Ch 3, turn.
Row 7- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.
Rows 8 to 24- Alternate 1 tr row and 1 dc row. Fasten off Tea Leaf, weave in tail.

Section #2-
Wheel-
With Tea leaf, ch 5, sl st to join rnd.

Body of Scarflet-
Row 6- 1 tr in each of next 23 dc. (24 tr) Ch 3, turn.
Row 7- 1 dc in each tr across. (24 dc) Ch 4, turn.
Rows 8 to 24- Alternate 1 tr row and 1 dc row. Fasten off Tea Leaf, leaving long tail to sew with.

Place both sections together, right sides facing each other and wrong sides facing you and threading a blunt needle and using the leftover long tail, sew both pieces together at the back.
Sew button toa dc row and use tr row on opposite side as a buttonhole.

This one’s short and straight to the point but lacy enough at the edges to make you feel pretty as you go on your way. An easy scarflet that works up relatively fast and good for gift-giving and for charity projects!

Materials:
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Soft Navy
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Cherry Red
Crochet hook size H
Scissors
Blunt needle (to weave in tails)

With Soft Navy, ch 45.
Row 1- 1 hdc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. (43 hdc) Ch 2, turn.
Row 2- 1 hdc in each hdc across. Ch 2, turn. (43 hdc)
Rows 3 to 15- Rep row 2. Ch 2, turn. (43 hdc)
Row 16- 1 hdc in each hdc across. (43 hdc) Ch 2, turn (counts as first hdc of next row).
Row 17 (Working on narrow edge of scarflet)- Make 20 hdc across narrow edge of scarflet. Ch 2, turn. (21 hdc)
Rows 18 to 23- 1 hdc in each hdc across. (21 hdc) Ch 2, turn.
Row 24- 1 hdc in each hdc across. Fasten off Soft Navy and weave in tail.
Row 25- Join Cherry Red. Work 1 hdc in each hdc across. (21 hdc) Ch 2, turn.
Rows 26 to 27- 1 hdc in each hdc across. (21 hdc) Ch 2, turn.
Row 28- 1 hdc in each hdc across. (21 hdc) Ch 4, turn.
Row 29- 1 tr in each of next 4 hdc, ch 11, skip 11 hdc, 1 tr in each of last 5 hdc. (Keyhole made) Ch 3, turn.

Row 44- 1 hdc in each hdc across. Fasten off Soft Navy, weave in tail. (21 hdc)
Row 45- Join Cherry Red. Make 1 hdc in each hdc across. (21 hdc) Ch 2, turn.

Lace Edges (Make 2)-
With Aruba Sea, Ch 22.
Row 1- 1 dc in fourth ch from hook and in each ch across. (20 dc) Ch 2, turn.
Row 2- 1 sc in second dc of row, ch 9, skip 8 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 9, skip 8 dc, 1 sc in next dc, ch 2, 1 sc in last dc of row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2- 1 tr in each dc across. Ch 3, turn. (20 tr)
Rows 3 to 14- Alternate 1 dc row and 1 tr row. Ch 3, turn. (20 sts)
Row 15- 1 dc in each tr across. (20 dc) Fasten off Turqua, weave in tail.

Side #2-
Working in foundation loops of first dc row, join Turqua and ch 3.
Row 1- Work 1 dc in each of next foundation loops. (20 dc) Ch 4, turn.
Row 2- 1 tr in each dc across. (20 tr) Ch 3, turn.
Row 3- 1 dc in each tr across. (20 dc) Ch 4, turn.
Row 4- 1 tr in each of first 5 dc, ch 10, skip 10 dc and work 1 tr in each of last 5 dc. (Keyhole made) Ch 3, turn.
Row 5- 1 dc in each of next 4 tr, 1 dc in each of next 10 ch, 1 dc in each of last 5 tr. Ch 4, turn.
Rows 6 to 14- Alternate 1 tr and 1 dc row.
Row 15- 1 dc in each tr across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Weave in all other tails. Place both pieces together with both right sides facing each other and wrong side facing you. Thread blunt needle with leftover tail and sew both pieces together. Fasten off. Weave in tail.

Tassels- (Optional)
Cut 3 pieces 16 inches long of Aruba Sea and 3 pieces of Turqua of the same size, per tassel. Cut 1 extra piece of the same size in Aruba Sea, per tassel. Fold in half, and insert the bundle of yarn through the center chain space in the 2 center clusters of last row. Tie the bundle with the extra piece of yarn after wrapping it over the bundle near the top several times. Tie a small knot at the back and insert the tails in the blunt needle and drive the tails into the bundle of yarn that forms the tassel. Repeat with all others.
Trim so that all will have the same length.
