Best Blog Tips

The cowls have been so popular that I have decided to make yet another one (I'm hearing you!) This one comes in Royal, one of the colors you like. It only uses 1 skein and it's very easy to make.

Skill- Moderately Easy (Advanced beginner onward)
Size- 5 1/2" W x 17" L (Approx. 35" in circumference)

Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Royal (1 skein)
Crochet hook size H
Blunt needle (to weave in tails)
Scissors

With Royal and H hook ch,123, slip st to join into a ring, making sure that your chain is not twisted..
Rnd 1- Ch 3, 1 dc in same spot as ch 3, 1 dc in each ch around, sl st bypassing beginning ch 3. (123 dc)
Rnd 2- Ch 2, 1 hdc in same spot as ch 2, 1 hdc in each ch around, sl st bypassing beginning ch 2. (123 hdc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc and 1 dc in first stitch of rnd, skip 1 stitch, *1 sc and 1 dc in next st, skip 1 st, rep from * around, 1 sc in last st. Sl st to join rnd.
Rnd 4- 1 sc in first st, skip next dc, *1 sc and 1 dc in next sc, skip next dc, rep from * around. Sl st to join rnd.
Rnd 5- 1 sc in first st, skip next sc, *1 sc and 1 dc in next dc, skip next sc, rep from * around. Sl st to join rnd.
Rnd 6- Ch 3, 1 dc in same spot as ch 3, 1 dc in eac st around. (123 dc) sl st to join rnd, bypassing beginning ch 3.
Rnd 7- Ch 2, 1 hdc in same spot as ch 2, 1 hdc in each ch around, pull up two loops in the last st and yo over and through all loops on hook, sl st bypassing beginning ch 2. (123 hdc)
Do NOT work tightly on this next stitch!


Rnd 8- Ch 1, draw up 1 loop in each of next 2 sts, yo and through all loops on hook, ch 1, *draw up 1 loop in each of next sts, yo and through all loops on hook, ch 1; rep from * around, pull up two loops in the last st and yo over and through all loops on hook, sl st bypassing beginning ch 2. (123 sts).
Rnd 9- Rep Rnd 8.
Rnd 10- Rep rnd 8.
Rnd 11- Rep rnd 8.
Rnds 12 to 14- Rep rnd. 8.
Rnd 15- Ch 2, 1 hdc in same spot as ch 2, 1 hdc in each ch around, sl st bypassing beginning ch 2. (123 hdc)
Rnd 16- Ch 3, 1 dc in same spot as ch 3, 1 dc in each hdc around, sl st bypassing beginning ch 3. (123 dc) Fasten off, weave in tails.

This beautiful and very easy cowl is embellished with a hyperbolic style flower on the center panel which resembles a camellia, hence the name, Camille. Hope you love it and make one for yourself, for someone you love or for someone in need. Enjoy!


Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Light Raspberry (1 skein)
Crochet hooks size H and F
Blunt or yarn needle
Scissors
Optional- If you would like to give it a fancy look, you can sew a faux pearl at the center of the flower.


Ch 98.

Row 1- Work 2 dc in third ch from hook, skip 3 chs, * make 1 sc, ch 3 and 2 dc in next ch, skip next 3 ch; rep from * across, end row by skipping to last ch and making 1 sl st there. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2- 2 dc in same spot as final slip stitch of row 1, * in top of next ch 3 work 1 sc, ch 3, 2 dc, rep from * across, end row as follows: work a ch 3, 2 dc in next sc, sl st in top of turning ch.
Rows 3 to 8- Rep row 2.



Center Panel-
We will now work across narrow edge of Cowl.
Row 1- work 18 sc across narrow edge of cowl. (18 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2 to 17- 1 sc in each sc across. (18 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 18- 1 sc in each sc across. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Thread blunt or yarn needle with tail and sew Center Panel to the opposite side of the lace side of Cowl. Fasten off, weave in ends.



Camellia-
With Light Raspberry and F hook, ch 42.
Row 1- 1 dc in 4th chain from hook, 4 dc in next ch, *2 dc in next ch, 4 dc in next ch, rep till end of row.
Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Thread blunt needle with tail and sew Camellia together by curling it around itself as you sew.


Sew Camellia to middle of Center Panel. Fasten off, and weave in tails on back side.
